The more recent chapters seem to head in that tragic direction...which is why I'm worried.
Icemera的文角色OOC是絕對的,但佈局精巧,情節跌宕,因而值得一看。論文字論筆力,她的短篇從來比長篇寫的好,比對Superstar 和 Whisper from the Forest 可知。不過看Legend of the Vampire 好像進步了些。
(Sorry, I'm not on my home computer, and am having some trouble with the Chinese IME, so can't really type anything complex in Chinese. Have to type English instead...really sorry about this.)
I agree that Icemera's technique is not that great compared to ethnewinter, or some of the others I've mentioned (7rabbits, lonely gester). "Legend of the Vampire" is quite good compared to "Whisper from the Forest" and "Until the End of Time". In my opinion, Icemera's sentences can get a little choppy, and at times, I feel the scene transitions are too abrupt and can use more description just to ease everything through. Her plot and characters are quite well developed, but likewise, there is often not enough emotion build-up prior to the climax, making me more "intrigued" by the twist than "stunned". However, I see some merits in her writing style compared to the authors you've mentioned. Have you read a book called "Sing You Home" by Jodi Picoult? I think it is a good example of how simplistic writing styles can excel, and while Icemera isn't at that level yet, I see her improvement in LotV as an indication that she is headed in that direction. (to be honest, I couldn't last through the first few paragraphs of "Superstar" because of the OOCness, so...I've never gotten far enough to compare the writing style with her later works...)
While I like "Inter Nos", it is mainly for the plot, rather than the writing style. By no means do I think ethnewinter to be a bad author; it's just that...I find some of her paragraphs to be too wordy, especially when trying to describe the characters' internal conflicts. I feel that she can use a little more "show than tell". Instead, she does both "show and tell". I sometimes wish she would leave more leeway for the readers to just...feel for themselves what the characters would be going through. I admit to skipping entire paragraphs of IN because of this. I think I'd compare ethnewinter's style to Margaret Atwood. While both Atwood and George Orwell write dystopian novels, I much prefer Orwell because of his simplistic style. I suppose it's more a personal preference though. What I'm trying to get at is that "vocabulary" and "flowery sentences" do not necessarily constitute "good writing technique", and that those who write more simplistically can be equally effective, or even more so in some cases.
I also agree with you that reading the original English piece by ethnewinter is good practice for those learning the language. The fact that she actually goes back and proofreads her work multiple times makes it quite error-free (I've only caught a handful of typos through the 61 chapters. Haven't read ch.62 yet, but she's generally really good about proofreading). 7rabbits, I must admit, is quite bad at this. Her skill is there, but errors are spiced throughout like most FFN pieces out there. I would also really recommend Jodi Picoult's book I've mentioned above (also a lesbian novel in case somebody is wondering). It's a very different style, but also really good in its own way. Also, feel free to try and write in the language. I think you can learn much quicker that way.
Once again, just want to applaud you for your efforts in translating this. It's really amazing. I agree that translation is also great practice for the usage of both languages (maybe I should try something to practice my Chinese, though I think I'm still too far behind to translate legibly). Hope you'll continue this!

看到LZ翻譯功力那麼深厚, 不禁覺得自己中文程度太差了. 真的很配服啊. 尤其是翻 "鯨魚" 那部分, 跟原作一樣 ...
I'm following "Legend of the Vampire" as well. It's really a work of art, and i'm still waiting for updating.... I hope she could finish it first, so that i can move forward to her next story "Until the End of Time."
看到LZ翻譯功力那麼深厚, 不禁覺得自己中文程度太差了. 真的很配服啊. 尤其是翻 "鯨魚" 那部分, 跟原作一樣, 太好笑, 太萌了.
LZ有考虑翻原作者的 "author's notes" 嗎? 有時後看author's notes會覺得找到些暗示, 不知大家是否有同感?
I've tried reading Icemera's "Superstar" on FFN, but I don't think it's my cup of tea. But then, I'm reading "Legend of the Vampire", which I think is really good. I'm also following "Until the End of Time", which is decent, though not my favourite from her, I suppose.

我在看FFN的reviews, 有人說靜留在60章時初提及的十三兵團(Legio XIII)很有名, 就上了wikipedia去搜一搜, 找到這個: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legio_XIII_Gemina (英文的, 沒有中文, 對不起) 可能作者是以凱撒作為藍圖來寫靜留的? 那麼夏樹呢? 請不要是殺凱撒的Marcus Brutus啊 (因為據說凱撒死的時候說"καὶ σύ, τέκνον" (英文: "You too, child?" 中文大概是: "你也是嗎, 小孩?") 在這同人裏, 靜留可是常叫夏樹做 "my child" 啊 {:4_384:}
新章是有求婚啊, 她們兩說起來像談生意般的, 超萌

Holy...this...is...amazing.
It took me weeks just to get through the entire story (up to current chapter 61). It's a brilliant piece, but very long, and it takes patience just to read through it, let alone doing a translation. Keep it up!
EDIT: would LZ be interested in translating some other works from FFN? I personally find "Cramoisi" by 7rabbits and "A Dame to Kill For" by lonely jester to be pretty decent works as well. Of course, I'm sure your hands are full just by translating something as grande as IN though
作者好像有為這故事畫插圖, 在這裡 http://ethnewinter.deviantart.com/
